Job Purpose 

To communicate the impact of Blue Dragon’s work to donors and supporters around the world through digital and social media.

We rescue kids from danger and slavery, reunite them with their families when we  can,  and  provide  all  the  services  needed  for  recovery  and  growth.

This position is based in the Communications and Fundraising department which is responsible for public relations, communications content and products, and all fundraising activities.

Key Objectives 

  • Lead the development and update of Blue Dragon’s social and digital media strategy
  • Implement and drive Blue Dragon’s social and digital media strategy and plan
  • Develop innovative and representative content to promote Blue Dragon’s work
  • Ensure Communications and Fundraising staff have good knowledge of program activities that can be used for donor engagement and content development
  • Support the team to fulfil its strategies and objectives
  • Uphold Blue Dragon’s mission and values

Main responsibilities  

Social and Digital Media 

  • Ensure Blue Dragon’s website is up-to-date and optimised, including maximising SEO and managing the website’s backend
  • Develop, schedule and post social and digital media content, and monitor engagement
  • Keep abreast of current developments in social and digital media, fundraising and communications, and make recommendations to optimise Blue Dragon’s social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Manage analytics for website and social media and disseminate this information; monitor and disseminate Google and other websites and news alerts

Communications 

  • Manage the mailing list
  • Produce or assist with the development and production of communications content and products, including newsletters, annual report, brochures and media packs as well as materials for events, campaigns and appeals
  • Manage the photo library, including liaising with programs; taking or commissioning photos; and responding to request for photos from staff and external agencies

Knowledge Management

  • Liaise with program staff to gather information on program activities for reporting to and engaging with donors on program activities
  • Establish and develop systems to ensure program information is gathered and distributed appropriately

Other

  • Contribute to and implement the Communications and Fundraising strategies
  • Support the team with hosting visitors and attending events
  • Participate actively in team meetings by identifying needs and problems and initiating solutions and improvements
  • Maintain the media archive
  • Take part in other department and organisation tasks and activities, as required

Support  

The Social & Digital Media Officer works closely with other team members in the department and focal points of Blue Dragon’s programs.  

Key selection criteria 

  • Experience in social media, website development and the digital environment
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent skills in using photo editing and graphic design software and tools
  • Experience in a communications, marketing, event management or public relations environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to Blue Dragon’s values
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience in working in a non-profit environment is preferred but not essential
  • Initiative, drive, and passion for social change
